Apex 60 is just around the corner, and we are highlighting some of the best talent coming in at each position leading up to this big time event. With over 50+ college coaches in attendance this years Apex 60 is going to be an extremely competitive environment with some of the best players duking it out to get recognized. Below are five standout goalies heading into the event and drawing a lot of attention and buzz from the Apex Staff.

Ben Abel, 2023, Goalie, 3D Texas/Maddog National, Highland Park

Coached by PLL Cannons Goalie Jacob Stover, Abel seems to have taken after his mentor and it shows throughout his game. He has great size and seems to take up a great amount of net while in the cage. He is patient in net with quit feet, but when shots come in he has a strong and explosive step towards the ball.  In tight he is able to pull off some incredibly athletic saves showcasing an amazing split and ability to eat up shots low.  Quick hands and great ball control allow him to make lightening fast outlets and create transition. Abel looks primed and ready to make waves at Apex 60.

Liam McCarhty, 2023, Goalie, DC Express, St. Albans

A product of the DMV hotbed, McCarthy is a spark plug in net.  He is as athletic as they come able to move in between the pipes better than almost any one. McCarthy is light on his feet yet demonstrates an explosive step towards the ball.  He has some quick hands accompanied with great positioning in net that allow him to make some big time saves in tight as well as from range. He is not shaken by open shooters as McCarthy Displays extreme discipline when shooters square up he remains in a strong stance and doesn't seem to take any false steps.  McCarthy seems ready to have a big week in front of some big time coaches at Apex 60

Colin Selters, 2023, Goalie, Denver Elite, Erie HS

Selters is a pure athlete in net, and it shows throughout his game. He has extremely quick reaction time able to seemingly snag balls out of thin air that look all but lost. Selters does a great job of remaining patient in net until the last possible second, not bitting on shooters stick fakes. He is just as good from the outside as he is from the inside staring down step down shooters as they load up. Selters is not jumpy in net but demonstrates a strong step to the ball when shots come in. He has excellent rebound control and comes out of the cage with controlled aggression to gather loose balls. Great at pushing transition with crisp outlets Selters looks to be the whole package in net.

Griffin Howell, 2023, Goalie, Midwest Express, Zionsville

Coming off a strong run against professional shooters at the Goalie 350 Showcase, Howell looks ready to have a big performance come Apex 60. He has a strong stance that allows him to load up to make some explosive saves. His top hand punch and step towards shots shuts down most shooters inside or out. Howell has a knack for being able to make multiple saves in a short span, able to reset off rebounds and get back onto his pipe and in position.  Throw in his ability to drop outlets on a dime, and Howell presents himself as a serious threat in between the pipes.

Connor Dobson, 2023, Goalie, Legacy, Islip HS

The firs thing you will notice while watching Dobson play is his ability to command the defense. When he is in the cage Dobson is a natural leader constantly communicating with his defense and getting them into position. His game is cornered by his quick hand speed and top level footwork. Seemingly never taking false steps, Dobson has great positioning within the pipes that put him in the best spot possible to make big time saves for his team.  He has a strong stance, and is light on his feet making some eye grabbing saves. Dobson is on track to have an All Star performance this summer.
