On Saturday, February 26, Apex Lacrosse Events hosted the Winter Goalie Showcase at Calvert Regional Park. This position specific event is designed to create an environment unlike other showcases with high level Goalie skills/drills and high energy. Director, Gussie Johns, led the players through a series of stations each working on different elements of being both in and out of the crease with the help of Molly Wolf (AU Pro & Loyola lacrosse Alum) and Taylor Caldwell (Loyola lacrosse Alum). With athletes ranging from New York, Texas and as far as Washington State - each player brought something different to the crease.
After our first session of skills and drills we transitioned over to our highly anticipated Goalie competition, Queen of the Cage. Congratulations to the last Goalie standing, Kalyn Ammerlaan for withstanding brutal side arms and bounce shots from our very own Professional Shooters.
2022 Queen of the Cage
For the first time ever, we announced the Apex Girls “All Goalie All-Star Team.” These girls stood out among the group not only in skill and positive nature but they were able to take what they learned and apply that skill immediately. Each All-Star received a custom gold chrome Cascade helmet with custom Apex Goalie Showcase decals.
Finally, each Goalie had the opportunity to test their physical ability on a position specific combine. Powered by Healthy Baller, the girls participated in a series of tests including 10 yard dash, 5-10-5 spring, vertical jump, board jump and med ball throws. Out of all the participants the following scored the best in each respective category...
Overall, the 2022 Girls Winter Goalie Showcase was fast paced, diverse, and most importantly fun. For more information about the Goalie Showcase and other events please head to our home page Apex Lacrosse Events and follow us on instagram, Apex Girls Lacrosse Instagram.
